Emergency services called following 'criminal damage' incident on Crewe field
Emergency services were called to a field in Crewe - following reports of a deliberate fire causing 'criminal damage' in the town.
The incident on Badger Avenue happened at 7:32pm on Monday 5 June - with Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service quickly arriving at the scene.
One fire engine from Crewe extinguished the grass flames using a hose reel - contacting Cheshire Police due to the deliberate nature of the incident.
Several police officers swiftly arrived at the scene, blocking off the targeted field area.
Police made a search of the area for suspects but were unable to find them and no arrests were made.
On Wednesday 7 June, Cheshire Police confirmed the incident to Nub News.
A spokesperson said: "At 8.10pm on Monday 5 June police were called to reports of criminal damage on Badger Avenue, Crewe.
"Officers attended the scene and found there had been a small grass fire which was extinguished by firefighters.
"No arrests were made."
Following this field incident, there was another deliberate fire at a Badger Avenue park at 6:54pm on Tuesday 6 June.
One fire engine from Crewe dealt with the incident and again contacted Cheshire Police.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "A small fire on a park in Crewe was extinguished with a hose reel jet.
"Police were informed as the fire is believed to have been started deliberately."
