A drink driver is set to appear in court after a BMW collided with a parked car in Crewe, with the local man blowing almost three times over the legal limit.

On Friday 29 September, Cheshire Police received reports of a collision incident on Church Lane, Wistaston.

At around 11:15pm, officers arrived at scene, discovering a blue BMW 320D had collided with a parked Vauxhall Zafira.

Response officers ordered the driver of the BMW, a man, to take a roadside breath test, after appearing 'intoxicated.'

The man blew 99 on the test, almost three times over the legal limit of 35.

Derek Turner, 50, of Wistaston Green, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and has since been charged with the offence.

He is set to appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Thursday 19 October.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At 11.15pm on Friday 29 September, police were called to reports of a collision on Church Lane, Wistaston.

"Officers attended the scene and found that a blue BMW 320D had collided with a parked Vauxhall Zafira. 

Derek Turner, 50, of Wistaston Green Road, has been charged with driving a motor vehicle whilst over the prescribed limit (Cheshire Police).

"The driver of the BMW, a 50-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving. 

"Derek Turner, of Wistaston Green Road, has since been charged with the offence.

"He has been bailed to appear at Crewe Magistrates Court on Thursday 19 October."
