A developer is seeking local residents' views on plans to build about 190 homes on land off Crewe Road on the border of Wistaston.

Redrow Homes wants to build the dwellings on a 12.6-hectare site comprising open fields and grassland, which borders land and allotments owned by Willaston Parish Council.

The company is encouraging residents to take part in its consultation, which closes on Friday 26 September, before it submits a full planning application to Cheshire East Council.

A statement on the consultation website says: "Our vision for Crewe Road is to deliver a sensitively designed community that meets local housing needs while complementing the character of the existing village.

Redrow Homes wants to build the dwellings on a 12.6-hectare site comprising open fields and grassland, bordering land and allotments owned by Willaston Parish Council (Redrow Homes).

"Through a coordinated masterplan approach, the site will provide high-quality, energy-efficient homes within a sustainable setting.

"We will create a cohesive new community that integrates seamlessly into its surroundings, enhances access to green space and provides a place where residents feel proud to call home."

The website says the proposal will include 30 per cent affordable homes.

The development will include multifunctional green infrastructure, retain the public footpath, provide landscaping and public open space, with a biodiversity net gain of 10 per cent and sustainable drainage systems.

Redrow had previously wanted around 220 homes on the land, but Willaston Parish Council successfully resolved a land dispute concerning the council-owned Huntsbank Allotments this spring.
