Crucial Crewe road to reopen this afternoon following council update
A crucial Crewe road is set to reopen this afternoon (May 2) - following an important Cheshire East Council Highways update.
Nantwich Road roundabout to Gresty Road (one-way), closed to motorists at 7pm on Friday 28 April.
The road will now reopen in the afternoon of Tuesday 2 May - despite a report submitted by Scottish Power for works to be completed by midnight on Saturday 6 May.
This road closure has been allowing Scottish Power emergency utility repair and maintenance works to take place/
The closure has affected motorists travelling to Crewe Railway Station in one direction.
Diversions have been in place for motorists to travel using Macon Way/Earle Street/Mill Street.
Cheshire East Council announced the one-way closure at 5pm on 28 April with a social media statement.
The statement read: "A one-way road closure will be in place here from 7pm this evening between Nantwich Road roundabout to Gresty Road.
"This is to facilitate Scottish Power emergency fault works.
"Diversions will be in place - please plan your journey ahead."
At 9:54am on Tuesday 2 May, Cheshire East Highways gave a Twitter update on the road closure.
A statement read: "Update: Nantwich Road, Crewe, will reopen this afternoon. We will tweet out confirmation once the road has been reopened."
