Crucial Crewe road to reopen this afternoon following council update

A crucial Crewe road is set to reopen this afternoon (May 2) - following an important Cheshire East Council Highways update.

Nantwich Road roundabout to Gresty Road (one-way), closed to motorists at 7pm on Friday 28 April.

The road will now reopen in the afternoon of Tuesday 2 May - despite a report submitted by Scottish Power for works to be completed by midnight on Saturday 6 May.

This road closure has been allowing Scottish Power emergency utility repair and maintenance works to take place/

The closure has affected motorists travelling to Crewe Railway Station in one direction.

Diversions have been in place for motorists to travel using Macon Way/Earle Street/Mill Street.

Cheshire East Council announced the one-way closure at 5pm on 28 April with a social media statement.

The statement read: "A one-way road closure will be in place here from 7pm this evening between Nantwich Road roundabout to Gresty Road.

"This is to facilitate Scottish Power emergency fault works.

The one-way Crewe road closure has been to facilitate emergency Scottish Power fault works - affecting motorists travelling to Crewe Railway Station (Ryan Parker).

"Diversions will be in place - please plan your journey ahead."

At 9:54am on Tuesday 2 May, Cheshire East Highways gave a Twitter update on the road closure.

A statement read: "Update: Nantwich Road, Crewe, will reopen this afternoon. We will tweet out confirmation once the road has been reopened."
