Wistaston Village Cricket Club (WVCC) is gearing up for another exciting summer as the club prepares to launch its 2026 season at the Eric Swan Sports Ground & Brittles Pavilion off Church Lane.

Founded in 1980, the popular village club will begin its new campaign in April, with fixtures running right through to September.

The club will once again field several competitive sides across a range of regional leagues.

The First XI will compete in Division 3 of the Cheshire Cricket League, while the Second XI will play in Division 8 of the North Stafford South Cheshire Premier Cricket League.

The Third XI will also take part in Section B North of the Stone and District Cricket League.

Women's and girls' cricket continues to grow at the club. The Swans XI women's side will compete in Division 4 (West) of the Cheshire Women's Cricket League, while the club's Women's Softball team will play in Division 5 South 1 of the same league.

The club's thriving junior section will once again represent Wistaston across several age groups in the South Cheshire Youth League, with league structures remaining subject to any changes ahead of the new season.

Wistaston Village Cricket Club is proudly sponsored by The Royal Oak Worleston, a multi-award-winning traditional country pub continuing to support the village club and its growing cricket community.

As preparations continue, the club is keen to welcome new players for the 2026 campaign.

Cricketers of all abilities, from beginners to experienced players, are invited to get involved, with opportunities available for both adults and juniors.

Away from the pitch, the club hosts popular Bingo evenings every third Friday of the month at the pavilion lounge in Wistaston, helping raise vital funds while bringing the community together.

And for those who simply enjoy watching the game, spectators are warmly invited to spend a relaxing Sunday afternoon at the Brittles, where village cricket and a friendly welcome are always guaranteed.

Anyone interested in playing or supporting the club can get in touch via email at: [email protected], or find out more on the club's Facebook page.
