Crewe man, 38, charged with drink driving after incident in town

A 38-year-old man from Crewe has been charged with drink driving, after being "observed" at the wheel by Cheshire Police in the town.

On Sunday 14 July, officers noticed a car being driven erratically on Hungerford Road.

After following the vehicle across Crewe, it was pulled over on West Street at 11pm.

The driver failed a roadside breath test and was arrested for drink driving,

Billy John Murphy, 38, of Crewe Central, has since been charged with the offence.

Murphy has been bailed to appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Thursday 8 August.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At 11pm on Sunday 14 July, police observed a vehicle driving on Hungerford Road in Crewe.

"Officers subsequently stopped the car on West Street and the driver was arrested after failing a roadside breath test.

Billy John Murphy, 38, has been bailed to appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Thursday 8 August (Cheshire Police).

"Billy John Murphy, 38, of Crewe Central, has since been charged with drink driving.

"He has been bailed to appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Thursday 8 August."
