A McDonald's drive-thru restaurant development will still be going ahead in Crewe, meaning there will be soon be three sites in the town.

McDonald's completed a £1.4 million deal for The Market Shopping Centre Car Park on Friday 21 April, located on the corner of West Street and Vernon Way.

The fast-food giant acquired the land from Real Estate Investors (REI), with plans to open another Crewe drive-thru restaurant in "late" 2023.

Currently, McDonald's has sites in Crewe on Macon Way and Dunwoody Way, with its town centre walk-in only store closing back in 2018 after 34 years (Ryan Parker).

On Monday 18 September, Cheshire East Planning approved a discharge of conditions for the new fast-food site, relating to contaminated land.

This development, previously approved for a Burger King drive-thru restaurant, has hit a number of delays in recent months.

Earlier this month, another discharge of conditions application was submitted, expected to be decided later this year.

McDonalds' Market Shopping Centre drive-thru will become its most central Crewe restaurant.

Currently, McDonald's has sites on Macon Way and Dunwoody Way, with its town centre walk-in only store closing back in 2018 after 34 years.

In April, asset manager at REI, Jack Sears, said: "We have completed the sale of land to McDonalds for £1.4m for them to develop as a drive-thru.

On Monday 18 September, Cheshire East Planning approved a discharge of conditions for the new fast-food site, on The Market Shopping Centre Car Park, relating to contaminated land (Ryan Parker).

"This development will bring employment to the area and attract more shoppers and diners to the Market Shopping Centre, complementing the existing consumer offers at the centre."
