Crewe town centre shop chain to permanently close this weekend

A Crewe town centre betting shop chain is set to permanently close this weekend, with staff being "redeployed" to neighbouring stores.

William Hill, 66 Market Street, will be shutting its doors for good at 9pm on Sunday 3 March.

The bookmaker, which operates two other shops in Crewe, says its closure is to support its "long-term growth strategy."

William Hill has sites at 34 Market Street and 57/59 Nantwich Road in Crewe (Ryan Parker).

As of March 2024, William Hill operates over 1,400 shops across the UK, employing around 8,000 staff.

Founded in 1934, the company has sites at 34 Market Street and 57/59 Nantwich Road.

Staff at William Hill's 66 Market Street store will all be move over to nearby locations.

A William Hill spokesperson told Nub News: "As part of the company's regular review of our retail footprint to support our long-term growth strategy, our shop on Market Street in Crewe will close this Sunday 3 March.

All staff at William Hill's 66 Market Street shop are being redeployed to neighbouring sites (Ryan Parker).

"We are pleased all of our staff working at the shop have been successfully redeployed to neighbouring shops.

"We continue to serve our customers at these locations."
