Police investigate 'potentially suspicious' death of man in Crewe
Cheshire Police detectives are appealing for information following a death in Crewe, currently being treated as "potentially suspicious."
At 6.52pm on Thursday 22 February, police were called to a wooded area which runs between Dunwoody Way and Chester Street, following a report of a body.
Officers attended and discovered a man, believed to be in his late 40s, had sadly died.
The man has now been formally identified and enquiries to contact his next of kin are being carried out.
The man was a Slovakian national who had lived in Crewe for some time.
He is described as small, very slim with short brown hair. At the time of his death he was wearing a dark hoody, dark jeans and a dark jacket
DI Eli Atkinson said: "The man's death is being treated as potentially suspicious due to the findings of a Home Office Post Mortem which was carried out on 24 February and suggested an assault had taken place.
"We are currently making enquiries to understand how he came about the injury and whether a crime has taken place.
"We would like to speak to anyone who was in the area of Chester Street between 17 and 22 February and may have seen any activity within the wooded area which runs between Chester Street and Dunwoody Way."
Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police via the website, quoting IML 1762808.
Alternatively, information can be given anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
