A Crewe town centre pub dating back to the 19th-century is set to reopen this weekend, following major week-long refurbishment.

The Cheese Hall, Earle Street, will open its doors again at 5pm on Friday 6 February, with the venue closed since Sunday evening (February 1).

Operated by Amber Taverns, The Cheese Hall offers a wide selection of local cask, 10 TV screens and a custom-built darts area.

Workers started on the refurbishment at 6.50am on Monday, with the premises totally stripped out.

All wood has been taken off the walls, with the ceiling freshly painted and new cladding installed.

The Cheese Hall said: "We are officially closed for the refurbishment for vital maintenance work.

"We can't wait to see what it looks like and can't wait to see everybody else on 6 February.

"It is looking pretty bare, but we are all good. See you all soon.

I can't help feeling the crossover of clients of the Cheese Hall and a gastro pub would be quite small....

The business plan of Amber Inns was originally to sell beer cheap and in volume and they started by buying ex Wetherspoons in places where food was seen as a bit too up market. Since then it has been bought and sold. The current ownership chain does nothing to impress me, with many upwards companies, most behind in submitting their accounts.

And it other news, the reopening Hop Pole is owned by Punch who only a few weeks ago closed down the Lamb at Willaston. As an old saying goes, as one door closes another opens in a tax advantageous deal.

I quite agree Chipper1507.
Although I use to visit the cheese 🧀 hall in my younger days it was a great pub in the
town.
It's nice to see it having a new lick of paint and a revamp.
I wish the owners continued success.👍

Great news not just on the Cheese but the other two opening, been far to many closures in the town, pity their's not a gastro pub in the center to give folk somewhere to eat apart from the many fast food joints.
