A popular Crewe town centre dessert shop has closed down after "two years of hard work" - following a decision made by its venue's management team.

Swirly Pearls, Crewe Market Hall, shut down for good on Sunday 21 May - two years after launching alongside the venue's reopening in May 2021.

Owned by Nathan Tice, from Cleveland, USA, Swirly Pearls served the likes of ice creams, waffles, milkshakes and ice cream sundaes.

Swirly Pearls was handed its notice by management of Crewe Market Hall (Nub News).

The Crewe town centre dessert shop closed after it was handed its notice by management of Crewe Market Hall - forfeiting its lease.

On Tuesday 23 May, Swirly Pearls released a social media statement - shocked landlord, Market Asset Management, had re-entered and secured its premises.

The statement read: "To celebrate two years of being open at Crewe Market Hall over this past weekend, we have been handed notice by the management of the hall.

"A company employed by and answering to Cheshire East Council.

"Yes, unfortunately we are no longer welcome in the hall after two years of hard work.

"Why you ask? Your guess is as good as ours. We aren't the first to have suffered this fate and sadly won't be the last.

"We would love to thank all of our customers for their fantastic love and support the last few years."

Swirly Pearls' former unit is expected to be taken over by a new trader in the coming months.

A spokesman for operators of Crewe Market, Market Asset Management said: "We would like to thank Swirly Pearls for their tenure at the market.

"Sadly, they were not able to meet their occupancy terms and we have to make decisions for the benefit of everyone connected to Crewe Market Hall.

Swirly Pearls' former unit is expected to be taken over by a new Crewe Market Hall trader in the coming months.

"We wish them well for the future. Dialogue is ongoing with several traders who have already expressed an interest in taking over the vacant unit.

"We hope to announce a new arrival in due course in what is an exciting time for Crewe Market."
