Crewe takeaway hit with one-star food hygiene rating
By Ryan Parker 12th Jul 2026
A takeaway in Crewe has been hit with a one-star food hygiene rating, according to a recent Food Standard Agency (FSA) report.
The FSA Food Hygiene Rating Scheme is aimed at helping people choose where to eat out or shop for food.
This scheme is in partnership with local authorities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

It gives businesses a rating from zero to five, displayed at their premises and online.
A one-star hygiene rating means "major improvement is necessary" for the business.
All information was taken from the Food Standard Agency website as of Thursday 9 July:
- Moorlands Fast Food - 16a Hightown - One Star - (2 June, 2026)

A food safety officer from Cheshire East Council inspected the Crewe takeaway to check they were following food hygiene law and ensuring the food sold was safe to eat.
At all inspections, the officer checked the following three elements:
- Hygienic food handling (improvement necessary)
- Cleanliness and condition of facilities and building – good (generally satisfactory)
- Management of food safety - major improvement necessary (major improvement necessary)
Major improvement is necessary for Moorlands' management of food safety. Improvement is also necessary for its hygienic food handling
