Crewe St. Barnabas councillor elected as town's twelfth mayor

On Tuesday 13 May, Cllr Sally Graham was elected as the new Mayor of Crewe, becoming the twelth person to hold the title.
The Crewe St. Barnabas town councillor was formally appointed as the new mayor for the next twelve months, with Crewe West town councillor, Stuart Mackay, appointed as deputy mayor.
Cllr Dawn Clark (Crewe South), was thanked as outgoing Mayor of Crewe for her hard work across the last year.

During her time as Mayor of Crewe, Cllr Graham says she will be focusing on encouraging local community groups to work together to benefit each other and the town.
Cllr Sally Graham told Nub News: "In the coming year, I look forward to working with Cllr Stuart Mackay in his role as deputy mayor.
"Our theme will be encouraging community groups to work collaboratively, the benefits of working in partnership and highlighting where this approach works well.
"I work in the Methodist Church to support and facilitate churches and their congregations' work for their local communities.
"Cllr Mackay is also very active in a community engagement role through his work with the Co-op.
"Our town is home to many invaluable charities and community groups and they are doing sterling work.

"During the last year as deputy mayor, I came across inspiring examples of these groups working hard with partner organisations to boost their impact.
"Our local schools and colleges are key components in collaborative community working.
"They not only offer help and support to local charities, but provide young people with the opportunity to learn about the needs of others and how they can do something practical for those around them."
Fellow Crewe St. Barnabas town councillor and Cheshire East councillor, James Pratt, said: "I would like to offer my congratulations to Cllr Sally Graham on becoming Mayor of Crewe.

"It is fantastic to see someone so passionate about bringing local groups together and shining a light on the great work happening across the town.
"Her focus on community and collaboration is exactly what Crewe needs, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact she will make over the coming year."
