Readers of Crewe Nub News have crowned their favourite chip shop in the town following a vote on social media this week, in celebration of National Potato Day (August 19).

Crewe Nub News received 260 votes for readers' top chippy, with the top four as follows:

4 - Cod 'N' All - Underwood Lane - 34 votes

Cod 'N' All, Underwood Lane, came fourth in Crewe Nub News' best chippy in the town vote (Ryan Parker).

3 - Coronation Fish Bar - Coronation Street - 47 votes

Coronation Fish Bar, Coronation Street, came third in Crewe Nub News' best chippy in the town vote (Ryan Parker).

2 - The Wistaston Fryer - Bramhall Road - 51 votes

The Wistaston Fryer, Bramhall Road, came runner-up in Crewe Nub News' best chippy in the town vote (Ryan Parker).

1 - Benny's Fish and Chips - Readesdale Avenue - 98 votes

Benny's Fish and Chips, Readesdale Avenue, has won Crewe Nub News' best chippy in the town vote (Ryan Parker).

Reacting to coming first, Benny's Fish and Chips said: "Thank you so much from everyone at Benny's who voted for us in this Crewe Nub News competition.

"Also, thank you to my lovely staff Skender, Nicole, Alex, Sam and Christelle who work very hard. Thank you - Benny and Maggie."

Another notable mentions were Neptune, Vincent Street (fifth), Crosskeys Fish and Chips, Remer Street (joint-sixth). The Plaice, West Street (joint-sixth) and Vernon's Fish Bar, Victoria Street (joint-sixth).
