THE Crewe Regional Sunday League is preparing to shut down until December 6.

The new lockdown means the league - along with all grassroots football and sport - is facing being put on hold for a month, although League Secretary Dave Cooper is awaiting guidance from the FA.

Yesterday's programme went ahead and saw George and Dragon stay top of the Premier Division after a 6-3 win over The Raven.

Terry Cain, Scott Taylor, Joe Duckworth, Robbie Hatton, Liam Lewis and Ellis Rowland were on the scoresheet for the leaders while Ben Stychea and Josh Wynne replied for The Raven and the hosts also put through their own net.

The Lions move into second place after edging Faddiley 3-2 with goals from Danny Roberts, Dion Chesters and an own goal. Danny Lavalette scored both the Faddiley goals.

Third-placed Crewe Athletic beat Salvador 7-1 with doubles from Josh Dunne, Ed Hilditch and Luke Gillan. Blake Robinson was also on the sheet, while Adam Pountain netted for Salvador.

Willaston White Star had an excellent 4-1 win over Betley, despite falling behind to a Jamie Baker goal early on. Azarhul Haque scored a hat trick for The Star and Jack Moulton also on target.

In Division One, Sandbach Town picked up their first point of the season with a hard fought 1-1 draw against C & N Utd. Tony Fidzewicz scored the Sandbach goal, with Chris Worstencroft replying.

Talbot finally found some form crushing Cuddington FC 7-1 helped by Ollie Moore's hat-trick.

Further goals came from Scott Rankine, Ryan Moss, Kris Spencer and Ted Shakeshaft. Kyle Catterall scored for Cuddington FC.

Sydney Arms beat Audlem 3-1. Ben Reddock scored twice with Chris Williams also on target. Veteran marksman Andy Betteley netted for Audlem.

Two of the new teams to the League met at Winnington, and it was JS Bailey who prevailed, winning 3-2 with goals from JJ Bailey, Liam Challenor and Nick Raymond. Jake Bayley and Mike Bell netted for Winnington SC.

The Nantwich Pirates and White Horse clash ended all square (1-1) with Sam Cadwallader scoring for The Pirates, while Nick Gregory was on target for White Horse.
