A Crewe pub's recent renovation has left its visitors 'really impressed' by the changes - giving the venue a 'modern and fresh' look.

The Rising Sun Vaults, Earle Street, launched its new lounge area on Thursday 4 May - following two weeks of renovation works.

"Everyone is liking our latest refurbishment, the regulars in here are really impressed," said landlady, Karen Burke Hurley.

Located opposite Crewe's Grand Junction Retail Park, The Rising Sun Vaults has served the local community for more than 80 years.

The pub has been managed by Mrs Hurley for the past 17 years - with the Stockport-born landlady living upstairs for 10 years of her time in charge.

Mrs Hurley told Nub News: "It's six years since we last gave this place a renovation. We wanted to give the pub a modern and fresh look.

"People like to see a change and what we've done will keep them happy.

"All of the changes are my idea and the wallpaper remains the same - keeping with the red, grey and blue theme.

"It is still a work in progress. We are getting new tables was well - I like to plough money back into this venue.

"People can see we literally put everything back into this pub. I still love it the same after all this time.

"We all have a good time here because everyone is friendly and polite. This pub is made up of a great bunch of people.

Landlady, Karen Burke Hurley, believes The Rising Sun Vaults is like one big family - for both its employees and customers (Ryan Parker).

The landlady has seen a lot of visitors over the years with some past customers now working at the venue.

Mrs Hurley said: "The nicest thing about this pub is the family feel to it. We call ourselves 'the riser family.'

"I have seen people come in here when they are little, grow up and even have some of them work for us now.

The Earle Street pub will be getting new tables in its refurbished lounge area (Ryan Parker).

"We have our own families at home but here is a totally different one. One member of staff has been with me for 14 years.

"In The Rising Sun Vaults, you can walk in as a stranger and leave as a friend.

"Once people have been in for the first time, you often see them again regularly."

The Rising Sun Vaults offers free pool between 5pm and 7pm every Monday - hosting live music and entertainment most Saturdays.

Mrs Hurley confirmed the pub's beer garden has also been renovated - including a new covered area.

The landlady added: "Our beer garden is looking fabulous ready for the summer months.

"We have a variety of singers and bands who perform here - including the popular Kelley Tigerheart.

"Generally, every Saturday we have some form of entertainment on. Its always well received.

"Everybody knows our opening hours, they don't change. We have been consistent for 17 years."

The Rising Sun Vaults is open 12pm until 12am (Monday to Thursday), 12pm to 1am (Friday and Saturday) and 12pm to 12am (Sunday).
