Crewe house struck by lightning in same neighbourhood as one month ago
A Crewe house has been struck by lightning in the same neighbourhood a property was hit less than one month ago, causing a blaze inside.
On Saturday (July 8), local residents heard a "loud bang" with a lightning strike hitting a house on Sycamore Avenue.
The incident, off Lime Tree Avenue, happened at 7:37pm with two fire engines from Crewe quickly arriving at the scene.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service put out a blaze involving a bay window at the Crewe house.
Using breathing apparatus, crews used a hose reel to put the fire out.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Firefighters used breathing apparatus and a hose reel to put out a fire involving a bay window of a property in Sycamore Avenue.
"This was potentially caused by a lightning strike."
Crewe residents confirmed a lightning strike had caused the fire on social media, with many reporting their homes "shook."
Local resident, Lisa Ward, said: "Living room was filled with a white flash and a very loud bang. No internet too.
"Husband has gone out to investigate as something has happened a bit further down the road. Hope everyone's okay."
This lightning strike came 26 days after a bolt hit a Crewe home in the same neighbourhood, just 0.2 miles away.
A property on Hawthorn Grove, off Lime Tree Avenue, was struck on June 12, with the majority of damage being on the roof and on a light switch.
Thankfully, no was one hurt in either Crewe lightning strike incidents.
