A Crewe house was hit by lightning which sounding like "a bomb dropping" - after an aggressive thunderstorm struck the town.

Thankfully, no was one hurt in the incident - with the majority of damage being on the roof and on a light switch.

Resident of Hawthorn Grove, Shaun Davidson, confirmed it was his house which got hit by lightning - with damage to a light switch (Shaun Davidson).

On social media, he said: "Just to update everybody, it was my house that got hit.

"Everybody is fine, it was only me in the house, just a bit shook up when suddenly everything goes bang.

Thankfully, no was one hurt in the Hawthorn Grove incident - with the majority of damage being on the roof and on a light switch (Google).

"The majority of the damage was in a light switch and the roof. Just having to wait for work to be done now."

The lightning strike was heard across the town, with one reporting on social media it sounded like "a bomb dropping."

Residents across Crewe reported their house shook when the bolt struck the Hawthorn Grove house.

Aldersey Road was flooded following the thunderstorm (Layla Tudor).

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service crews arrived at Crewe house - confirming the damage was from the lightning strike.

This was not the only thunderstorm incident in Crewe.

A tree was hit on Readesdale Avenue, covering the footpath.

Floods were reported on Dane Bank Avenue, Woodside Avenue, Aldersey Road, Capesthorne Road and Vernon Way, by Tesco Extra.

St Thomas More Catholic High School, Dane Bank Avenue, closed to pupils on Tuesday 13 June - reopening to all pupils on Wednesday 14 June.
