Crewe family butchers trading since 1945 suddenly closes

A Crewe family butchers trading in the town since 1945 has suddenly closed, with the site taken over by a UK meat wholesale company.
Longman's Family Butchers, Wistaston Road, shuttered in mid-February, with no signs of reopening.
The fourth-generation family business had been serving the Crewe community for the past 80 years.
According to social media reports, staff were not given notice of the closure and have not yet been paid.

Customers who have made delivery orders within the last week have not received them.
One Crewe resident said: "Such a good local support service during lockdown.
"The family sold it off and the service levels and quality appeared to drop."
Longman's Family Butchers has since confirmed to Nub News the premises has now been taken over by Direct Wholesale Meats UK.
The company is set to refurbish the unit and will relaunch as a "high-quality meat, wholesale and discount store" in the near future.
