A popular Crewe town centre eatery has received "fantastic" feedback - after adding Snugburys famous ice cream to its "growing" menu.

Mel's Kitchen, Crewe Market Hall, added Snugbury's Ice Cream to its menu on Wednesday 7 June - following a new arrangement inside the venue.

"Since the closure of Swirly Pearls, all traders have been told they can now serve desserts," said joint-owner, Melanie Southern.

Mel's Kitchen currently serves Snugbury's Salted Caramel, Cookie Dough, Honeycomb, Cherry Blizzard, White Mountain, Mint Choc Chip, Raspberry Sorbet and Vegan Chocolate flavours (Ryan Parker).

As soon as this announcement was made, Mel's Kitchen got straight on the phone to Snugburys.

A representative of the Nantwich business swiftly came to check out their stall.

Mrs Southern told Nub News: "Snugburys came out, said how much they liked our stall and within a week, all the stock and set-up was here.

"At the moment, we serve Salted Caramel, Cookie Dough, Honeycomb, Cherry Blizzard, White Mountain, Mint Choc Chip, Raspberry Sorbet and Vegan Chocolate.

"All the staff helped to choose the flavours. We are going to rotate some of them to keep our choices fresh over the summer.

Mel's Kitchen is operated by joint-owners Melanie and Paul Southern (Ryan Parker).

"We now also serve three flavours of ice cream sundaes, which we expect to be a big hit."

Mel's Kitchen says it has received "fantastic" feedback from customers since launching Snugburys Ice Cream.

One married couple even cycled from a distance to try out its ice cream offering.

Mrs Southern said: "On the ice cream, our feedback has been fantastic. Recently, a lady and her husband cycled all the way here just to get a Snugburys.

"They came from quite a distance to come to us and even posted a picture of the husband enjoying the ice cream on Crewe Market Hall's social media.

"I was shocked by this. It proves how serving this ice cream can bring us even more customers.

"We are doing really well. I love it at Crewe Market Hall and enjoy coming into work so that helps.

"Everyone is really nice and friendly in here. It's also getting busier all the time.

"We have had to install a new counter to prepare food as we are receiving more and more orders."

Mel's Kitchen has added more new items to its menu and is now almost at full capacity.

Mel's Kitchen now serves three flavours of ice cream sundaes: Lotus Biscoff, Eton Mess and Knickerbocker Glory (Nub News).

Mrs Southern loves working at Crewe Market Hall - believing all food and drink traders are popular within the venue.

The joint-owner added: "We have added more items to our menu, including nachos and wedges.

"There are also new puddings like old school cakes and sticky toffee pudding.

"We will change these going through the year, adding hotter ones as we head into winter.

"Everyone seems to be really popular in here. It's great to see all businesses adding to their menus and growing together.

"We are often told we are the most popular place in here but I think all traders are equally as successful, having their ups and downs."

Mel's Kitchen will be closed for food from Monday 3 July to Monday 10 July. It will be keeping the ice cream and drinks counter open during this time.
