A Crewe-based facilities management company has launched its Christmas community appeal - supporting Crewe and Nantwich food banks.
Construction Linx, Weston Road, are supporting St Pauls Centre, Hightown and Nantwich Foodbank.
Managing director, Gareth Williams, was excited by the idea from financial controller, Debbie Owen - when discussing the opportunities to help at this time of the year.
Debbie came up with the 'Secret Hamper' initiative initially intended for its employees, customers and suppliers.
The financial controller thought it was too good of an idea to keep to just the company.
Mr Williams told Nub News: "We've all heard the news about the cost-of-living crisis and thought how could we play our part?
"Our 'secret hamper' is a way for us to demonstrate the low 'cost of giving' and how companies can come together to have a bigger impact to help families across South Cheshire.
"The idea is a simple one, Construction Linx are encouraging any local company to commit to buying as many of the items from the hamper list to allow families to celebrate Christmas this year.
"Working alongside the food banks, these donations will then be placed into 'hampers' ready to be distributed to those in need across Crewe & Nantwich.
"Companies have a window of the 14th of Nov to 2nd December to buy the items before Construction Linx will arrange collection of the bagged items week commencing 5 December.
Construction Linx's social media manager, Rachel Williams, was excited by the Secret Hamper Challenge.
She said: "We've all had the office secret Santa gifts which range from the perfect to the perfectly bizarre.
"I really like the idea of spending the money in this way instead. It's a simple way for employees and companies to demonstrate their community spirit at this time of year.
"All companies wishing to collaborate in the initiative should email [email protected] with the subject line "Secret Hamper"
"You can also contact us through our Facebook page with their intention to purchase items.
"All companies will be included in the community impact round up at the end of the challenge whilst also having the peace of mind of contributing to such a worthwhile & local cause.
Members of the Nantwich Foodbank have welcomed the upcoming support.
Mr Damien Gear said: "Food banks all over the country need as much support as they can possibly get from the local community and this challenge works very well with our existing reverse calendar appeal."
If any members of the public would also like to get involved in this initiative, please take any donations directly to Brine Leas School on Saturday (November 26), between 10am and 1pm.
This is where Nantwich Foodbank are holding a collection.
Alternatively, donations can be dropped off Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 4pm, at the St Paul's Centre back gate - located on St Paul's Street.
Vehicles can pull up to unload. Contact Debbie Owen on 07901556529 or Gareth Williams on 07739551720 for more information.
