A director for a Crewe car firm is raising money for a good cause, just by walking the length of the country.

Swansway Motor Group Director David Smyth is about to take on a coast-to-coast walk for charity.

In a few short days, the businessman and Nantwich Town FC supporter will take his first of many steps on a 192-mile Coast-to-Coast walk all in aid of the Crewe and Nantwich Cancer Research branch.

The 61-year-old will be joined by his two friends, will be taking on the challenge over the course of the next two weeks, starting in St Bees, Cumbria.

And he has already smashed his fundraising goal. (Linked below).

The walk will see David traverse through three national parks, taking in the Lake District, Pennines, and North York Moors, before finishing in Robin Hood's Bay, North Yorkshire.

David, who is one of the directors at Crewe-based car dealer group, Swansway Motor Group, has received an overwhelming amount of support so far. Initially setting his fundraising target at £1,000, David has received a generous number of donations, putting him at over £3,000 before the challenge starts. Astonished by the kindness of those who have donated, David is now keen to raise as much money as possible.

Crewe and Nantwich Cancer Research Representative Margaret Grindrod commented: "As a committee, we are delighted to see David going to so much effort to raise money for Cancer Research. We are extremely grateful to him for taking on this challenge as we know how important the money raised is to so many people."

Swansway Motor Group would like to wish David the best of luck on his challenge and can't wait to hear all about it.

Swansway have multiple garages across Crewe.
