A local business owner has celebrated 13 years of running a popular shop in Crewe, with it set to face the busiest time of the year.

Eddie Davies bought United Carpets, Nantwich Road, in August 2010 with the business going from strength to strength since regaining lost ground from COVID-19.

Last year, the Crewe flooring and beds retailer underwent a refurbishment, seeing the installation of new display units and new carpet sample stands.

New low-energy led lighting also gave the store a bright facelift inside.

Proud of the 13-year anniversary, Mr Davies told Nub News: "What surprised me the most was how much of the stock I could buy that was made in the UK,"

"Brands such as Abingdons are from South Wales, Westex are from West Yorkshire, and Hugh Mackey are from Hartlepool.

"Most of the other stock comes from Belgium and Holland.

"We also have a lot of mattresses made in the UK."

United Carpets assistant manager, Gavin Chesters, has worked with Mr Davies from the start, as has warehouse manager, Ross McIntyre.

Mr Davies said: "It's good for customers to see the same faces when they come in.

"We have a lot of repeat custom and I put that down to the relationships that people can build with us."

The business owner has an advertising board at Crewe Alex FC and is a kit sponsor for Northern Netball.

United Carpets is open 9am until 6pm (Monday to Wednesday), 9am to 8pm (Thursday), 9am to 6pm (Friday and Saturday) and 10:30am until 4:30pm (Sunday) (Nub News).

Mr Davies is now gearing up for the busiest part of the year, which is traditionally from September to Christmas.
