A new Crewe burger chain development has been delayed due to 'insufficient information' being submitted to Cheshire East Council.

Burger King will be opening a drive-thru restaurant on Crewe's Market Shopping Centre car park - located on the corner of West Street and Vernon Way.

A first planning application was submitted in May 2020 and was approved by Cheshire East Council with conditions in March 2021.

Crewe's Burger King site is under offer on behalf of MK2 Real Estate for £1,350,000 (Cheshire East Planning).

The Crewe car park has been closed off to the public since March 2022 - with the site under offer on behalf of MK2 Real Estate for £1,350,000.

Last November, MK2 confirmed Crewe's Burger King site was under offer but had not been sold yet.

Director, Mark Johnson, told Nub News: "The deal is still under offer but not completed yet."

This month (February), the development hit a new delay - but Nub News understands it will still go ahead.

Cheshire East Council refused a discharge of conditions for the development on two accounts - saying 'insufficient information' had been provided for both.

Burger King was located within Market Shopping Centre, Market Street in the 1990s - where Max Speilmann is now (Crewe Memories).

These discharge of conditions were a submission of details for the remediation of contaminated land and surface water drainage at the site.

It is expected these planning issues will be sorted within the coming months.

Burger King's first Crewe drive-thru will have spaces for 68 customers - including an outdoor seating area.

The original application states the new restaurant will create 18 full-time and 20 part-time jobs.

Burger King's car park will be equipped with charging points for electric vehicles.

Once the site is officially sold and planning details are sorted - it is anticipated construction will take four months to complete.
