Crewe Alexandra's manager has praised his side after they picked up a clean sheet on the road - with an 18-year-old Premier League prospect making a 'really good' debut.

Crewe Alexandra manager, Lee Bell, was happy with his side's performance against Walsall (Kevin Warburton).

The biggest positive from the match was on-loan Brighton goalkeeper, James Beadle, making his EFL professional debut.

Beadle, aged just 18, made an impressive stop to deny Walsall's Isaac Hutchinson in the opening stages and made seven saves throughout the encounter.

Bell gave a special mention to Beadle, who made a strong impression to his teammates and the club.

He said: "James was really good and sound. His distribution was fine and he handled the occasion really well."

"It was a hard-earned point. I'm really proud of the players and the effort they are putting in - some of them are really on their last legs.

Bell said: "I thought we controlled the game pretty well in the first half, but in the second half - because of their long balls and a bit of tentativeness in our play at the back - it was harder.

"Both teams might have been here all night without scoring a goal, we just didn't have the end product. All-in-all, it was a good point.

Sean Robertson played a full 90 minutes for Crewe alexandra Versus Walsall (Kevin Warburton).

"We are getting some consistency and we have to take that into Saturday."
