Cheshire East Council has refused proposals to convert former Crewe town centre office accommodation into six bedsits, after failing Technical Housing Standards.
On Thursday 4 January, the council determined proposals for Chester Street and Market Street 'unacceptable.'
Last year, Mr Farman Khursid, of Kanya Property Ltd, had applied to convert first and second floor office accommodation into six single person residential flats.
This was planned to be arranged into three bedsits on the first floor, with three on the second floor.
Each residential unit planned to have an en-suite toilet/shower room and a 'kitchenette' in the main bedroom.
Proposals also outlined minor changes to the façade of the building, with the installation of new uPVC windows.

This part of the scheme had already taken place before the application got approval.
All six Crewe bedsits proposed were undersized, falling between 17.8 per cent and 38.4 per cent below the Technical Housing Standards.
A Cheshire East Planning officer said: "The impact on the highway network would be acceptable, however the proposal would be unacceptable in residential amenity terms.
"This planning application is therefore duly recommended for refusal."
