Armed police and helicopter deployed following reports of man with 'weapon' in Nantwich

Armed police and a police helicopter were called to Nantwich town centre, following reports of a man "possibly" carrying a weapon.

On Sunday 7 January, Cheshire Police received reports of a potentially dangerous man sat on a bench on Mill Island.

At around 4:50pm, local officers, the firearms unit and a police helicopter were deployed to the scene.

Police conducted a search of the area, speaking to a number of people nearby.

Officers found no trace of a man with weapons. An investigation remains ongoing.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At around 4.50pm on Sunday 7 January, police were called to reports of a man sat on a bench on Mill Island, Nantwich, who was possibly armed with a weapon.

"Local officers, supported by firearms unit and a police helicopter, were deployed to the scene and conducted a search of the area.

Cheshire Police officers found no trace of a man with weapons. An investigation remains ongoing (Google).

"Officers spoke to a number of people and there was no trace of a men with weapons."
