Council confirms major Crewe road will fully close for 22 weeks this month
Cheshire East Council has confirmed a major Crewe road will be closing for 22 weeks later this month - allowing the construction of a new roundabout and other works.
Flowers Lane will fully close on Monday 26 June for approximately 22 weeks - reopening around late November.
This road closure allows the construction of a fourth roundabout for the North West Crewe Package (NWCP) scheme.
It will also allow contractors, Balfour Beatty, to create a link from Flowers Lane to the new A530/Flowers Lane Roundabout (roundabout three).
This new roundabout is completed on Saturday 17 June - allowing A530 Middlewich Road to fully reopen on that date.
On Thursday 15 June, Cheshire East Council released the road closure details on its website.
A statement reads: "The A530/Flowers Lane Roundabout (roundabout 3) will be complete and A530 will be reopened on 17 June.
"The next phase of the works will include a full closure of Flowers Lane will start on Monday 26 June for approximately 22 weeks.
"This is to allow the construction of Fairfield Roundabout (roundabout 4) and the link from Flowers Lane to the A530/Flowers Lane Roundabout (roundabout 3)."
To answer any scheme-related queries, weekly meetings with Balfour Beatty are held from 12pm until 1pm every Tuesday at their Leighton Hall Farm site compound.
