Cheshire East Council has given the given light for the redevelopment of a popular Crewe car park - currently 'in a terrible state.'
Queens Park Car Park, off Queens Park Drive, was approved for a full resurfacing by Cheshire East Council on Tuesday (January 31).
The public car park will have its existing 'loose gravel' surface replaced with asphalt hardstanding and concrete edgings.
New surface water drainage will also be provided.
The resurfacing plan aims to ensure the car park and parkland more accessible for all visitors to Queens Park and Tipkinder Park.
On Wednesday (February 1), Crewe West Labour councillor, Cllr Connor Naismith, expressed his delighted with the decision.
He told Nub News: "I'm delighted as I've been pushing for this to take place since I was elected in May 2021.
"The car park is in a terrible state with huge craters all over it.
"Queens Park is the jewel in the crown of Crewe and deserves the attention and facilities befitting of that title.
"It's great to see the car park will now get a fresh start."
The application's case officer was satisfied with the proposals - believing it will have a positive affect on the community.
Work will commence on the car park as soon as the procurement process has been completed.
