'Comedy royalty' headlines as next Crewe comedy night line-up revealed

One of Britain's hardest working entertainers dubbed 'Our lady of perpetual comedy' - is coming to a Crewe town centre venue this May.

Much-loved performer, Pauline Daniels, will bringing her unique brand of humour and vocals to Crewe Central at its monthly comedy night on Friday 5 May.

Crewe Central which comprises a bar – The Kennel and is based in the old covered market building at the back of Crewe Market Hall, hosts popular comedians from the UK comedy scene on the first Friday of the month.

Much-loved performer, Pauline Daniels, will bringing her unique brand of humour and vocals to Crewe Central at its monthly comedy night on Friday 5 May (Ben Turner).

Topping the bill in May will be Daniels – the owner of a jaw-dropping CV after amassing 43 years in the business and labelled a 'joyous performer' by the late Sir Ken Dodd OBE.

Daniels cut her teeth in the UK s tough clubs, becoming a household name when Johnny Hamp, the legendary producer, booked her to be the only comedienne to smash into the male-dominated 70s TV series, The Comedians - alongside Bernard Manning and Frank Carson. 

Her Crewe appearance comes after she launched her ongoing Pauline Daniels: Get Me Before The Crematorium Does show across the UK last year.

Daniels was affectionately dubbed "Our lady of perpetual comedy" Willy Russell (Creator of Blood Brothers and Shirley Valentine).

Crewe Market Hall's latest expansion opened in June last year and will be hosting Stand Up Comedy Night throughout 2023.

The Crewe Central Comedy Night opening act is Chris Kehoe - a critically acclaimed comedian who mixes topical and surreal with aplomb (Ben Turner).

The comedy night has proved a real hit with blankets handed out to help audience members enjoy the night with extra comfort.

Kehoe brings a down to earth charm to his musings on the state of the world. 

After the first break in the middle section, there will be two more acts.

Rosing Crewe star, Ciara Hicks-Evans, will perform a short set at Crewe Central Comedy Night (Ben Turner).

First, there will be a short set from rising Crewe star, Ciara Hicks-Evans.

This will be followed by a performance from Welsh wit wizard, Kevin-Caswell-Jones.

The storyteller is a veteran of the UK comedy circuit and a regular contributor to Viz comic and resident host of the Ty Pawb comedy night in Wrexham.

The MC for the night is quick-fire gag merchant Ben Turner - a World One Liner Championship and Comedy Cellar Yorkshire New Act of the Year finalist.

Turner has racked up three million views on Facebook Reels and was included in the Daily Telegraph and The Poke's funniest jokes of lockdown.
