Crewe man charged with drink driving after car crashes through barrier

A Crewe man has been charged with drink driving and will appear in court - after his car came off the road and crashed through a barrier within the town.

Cheshire Police officers quickly arrived at the scene - finding his vehicle in bushes after crashing through a barrier.

The 31-year-old of Gainsborough Road, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of drink driving.

The Crewe man has since been charged with the offence.

Atkinson has been released on bail and will appear at Crewe Magistrates' Court on Tuesday 9 May.

On Monday 17 April, Cheshire Police confirmed the incident to Nub News.

A spokesperson said: "At 10am on Saturday 15 April, police were called to a collision near to the roundabout on Jack Mills Way/ Gresty Road.

"Officers attended and found a car had come off the road and collided with the barrier. 

"The driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, 

"Thomas Atkinson, 31 of Gainsborough Road, Crewe, has since been charged with the offence.

Thomas Atkinson has been released on bail and is set to appear at Crewe Magistrates Court on Tuesday 9 May (Ryan Parker).

The Crewe man's crashed vehicle was left at the scene for a considerable time afterwards.
