Charity withdraws proposals to remove historic Crewe railings for two-metre high fence
A charity has withdrawn its plans to remove historic railings around a listed Crewe building for a two-metre high fence - following objections from neighbours.
On Wednesday 21 June, The Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light confirmed it would no longer be building a new security fence around its premises at Webb House, Victoria Avenue.
The charity says it has "voluntarily" withdrawn proposals "out of respect" to neighbours who raised objections.
Director, Dr. I. Alamgir, told Nub News: "We had applied for a fence to be installed around the premises.
"We applied to keep people like this from coming to our gate.
"The police were informed and promised to do their best to protect us.
"We then read in the paper that three neighbours objected to our request.
"For that reason, our of respect for you, we voluntarily withdraw our application for a fence."
The Ahmadi Religion of Peace and Light moved into Webb House, Victoria Avenue, in September 2022.
