A charity shop chain has submitted plans to open in Crewe town centre's former Argos store, taking up the ground floor and first floor of the unit.

The charity retailer, currently located opposite Asda, has been looking at moving to a more accessible unit for lifting its furniture.

The former Argos unit, which closed in 2020, was stripped out ready for the development last summer.

British Heart Foundation plans to carry out internal alterations at the site.

A gym was expected to take the first floor of the former Argos unit, but this this will now be used as British Heart Foundation's warehouse area.

British Heart Foundation has asked for advertisement consent to install new illuminated and non illuminated fascia signs on the unit.

Cheshire East Council environmental protection officers have advised the charity shop to carry out its works between 8am and 6pm, Monday to Friday.

Works are also permitted to take place between 9am and 2pm on Saturdays.

The last date for submitting comments on British Heart Foundation's application is Friday 5 April, with a target decision date of Wednesday 1 May.
