An outdoor bar will launch in a new Crewe town centre venue hoping to space more than 500 people - following months of works and planning.

The Kennel Bar, an expansion of The Crewe Dog, Crewe Market Hall, will launch tonight (June 17) at 5pm.

The bar will be playing background music - remaining open until 10pm.

After working on electrical issues throughout the week - The Crewe Dog has confirmed it will be launching The Kennel Bar tonight.

General manager of The Crewe Dog, Louis Delaney told Nub News: "The Kennel Bar opens 5pm to 10pm tonight.

"We'll have some music playing, so if people want to avoid the heat they can."

It is hoped that Crewe Central will be able to fit over 500 people.

The Crewe Dog ran a short trial event for The Kennel Bar on Sunday (May 29), it had to be cut short.

Mr Delaney said: "The Kennel Bar outside, will be an addition onto The Crewe Dog - offering outside seating during summer and a live events space bar.

"Crewe's music scene has unfortunately gown downhill since the the loss of local venues like The Box and The Limelight.

"If we can offer one tenth of that we will be happy.

"We are just looking to bring live music back to the forefront."

Today (June 17), Crewe Market Hall operators, Market Asset Management confirmed live music will remain inside Crewe Market Hall.

Hayden Ferriby, Commercial Director for market operators Market Asset Management, said: "Tonight, people can listen to a mix of ska and reggae and lap up the fantastic lagers and beers at The Kennel.

"Scheduled live Crewe Central performances including non-ticketed free events and ticketed events will be happening and advertised in the coming weeks.

"These will be as an extension and not at the expense of our live events programme inside the market hall, which will continue and again be advertised in advance."
