By Ryan Parker 27th Apr 2026
Plans for almost 200 new homes have been put forward close to Crewe's A500 Shavington Bypass.
Applicant, Persimmon Homes North West, has submitted plans for 195 new properties on land east of Crewe Road, Shavington.
This proposed development includes 30 per cent affordable housing (up to 59 dwellings), with a central public green space visible and accessible to the wider site and community.
Vehicular access to would be taken from a new priority junction from Crewe Road, towards the south-western corner of the site.
A series of new footpaths and cycle ways are proposed in and around the Shavington site, located within areas of open space.

A planning statement says: "This planning statement supports the outline application for up to 195 residential dwellings, including 30 per cent affordable housing, on land east of Crewe Road, Shavington.
"The proposal is landscape-led and aims to deliver a high-quality, sustainable development with significant public open space, ecological enhancements, and robust infrastructure.
"The site covers approximately 8.4 hectares of agricultural land, located adjacent to the settlement of Shavington and within walking distance of local amenities, schools, and public transport.
"The scheme delivers policy-compliant affordable housing and generous public open space, with developer contributions, intended to be secured via Section 106 to support local education, healthcare, and community facilities.
"The proposal will deliver a minimum of 10 per cent biodiversity net gain through a combination of on-site and off- site mitigation.
"The proposed development will consist of a mix of estate roads and private drives, with a central public green space which is visible and accessible to the wider site and community.
"Development blocks have been designed to ensure the new homes will front each edge to create active and lively streetscapes and frontages, with central parking courts proposed within some blocks.
"The new homes are proposed to front out onto public areas of open space, which promotes social cohesion and a reduction in crime."
The last date for submitting comments is Wednesday 20 May, with a target decision date of Tuesday 30 June.
