'Aggressive' man arrested after throwing chairs and bins at Crewe NHS staff

A Manchester man has been arrested on suspicion of assaulting emergency workers, after throwing chairs and bins at Crewe hospital staff.

On Monday 24 March, Cheshire Police were alerted to an incident at Leighton Hospital, with reports of a man threatening NHS staff members and refusing to leave.

Around 7.15pm, officers arrived at the scene, discovering an "aggressive" man had thrown objects, including chairs and sharps bins (medical waste bins) at staff.

Police quickly detained the man who became physical with officers. He was arrested for the listed offence and for causing a nuisance on NHS premises.

The Manchester man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting emergency workers and causing a nuisance on NHS premises (Cheshire Police).

The man, who resides in Manchester, currently remains in police custody.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson said: "At roughly 7.15pm on Monday 24 March we received a call from Leighton requesting police due to an aggressive male threatening staff members.

"He had reportedly been throwing objects, including chairs and sharps bins at staff, and was refusing to leave.

"He was detained at the hospital by response patrols, after he showed physical resistance.

"The male from Manchester was arrested on suspicion of assaulting emergency workers and causing a nuisance on NHS premises."
