48-year-old Crewe man sustains 'serious injuries' in Cheshire town centre attack
A 48-year-old man from Crewe has sustained 'serious injuries' - following an attack while sitting on a bench in Northwich town centre.
The man was left with a broken jaw after being punched on Witton Street, Northwich - opposite The Penny Black JD Wetherspoon at 3am on Christmas Eve
This attack was carried out by an unknown man - with the victim falling to the floor as a result of the impact from the punch.
Cheshire Police now investigating the incident.
Officers are appealing for anyone with information or video footage to come forward.
Detective Sergeant Ross Hamilton, of Northwich CID, said: "The victim in this case sustained serious injuries and we are committed to doing all that we can to identify the person responsible.
"At the time of the incident the victim was wearing a distinctive bobble had with tassels hanging down to his shoulders.
"As part of our investigation we're keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and believes they may have witnessed the incident; the same goes for anyone with any video footage."
Anyone with information should contact Cheshire Police on 101 or via its website quoting IML 1441982.
