A 42-year-old man was finally arrested on Bright Street at approximately 8:30pm last night (Cheshire Constabulary).

A 42-year-old man from Crewe has been arrested following a serious incident in the town - where armed police were in a stand-off.

The incident on Bright Street began at approximately 2:40pm on Tuesday (November 8) - with the entire street blocked.

A dozen armed response officers were witnessed at the scene - after a 42-year-old man made serious threats to his landlord.

Negotiators tried for hours to get the man to calm down and resolve the situation.

The 42-year-old was finally arrested on Bright Street at approximately 8:30pm last night.

He was arrested on suspicion of malicious communication and threats to harm.

Crewe Police confirmed the incident on social media last night, saying: "Officers have arrested a 42-year-old man on suspicion of malicious communication and threats to harm.

"The man was arrested at around 8.30pm today, Tuesday (November 8), at an address on Bright Street Crewe.

The man was arrested on suspicion of malicious communication and threats to harm (Mark Smith).

"The arrest following reports of threats being made towards a landlord.

"Many thanks for all your patience."
