EVERY care home resident and staff member in Cheshire have been given their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.
NHS Cheshire CCG, which is organising the county's vaccination roll-out, says the feat was achieved last Sunday (January 24) after jabs were dispensed across 18 primary care sites this month and hospitals from the end of last year.
CCG Accountable Officer Clare Watson told Cheshire West Council's Covid-19 Outbreak Board: "As of Sunday, all our care home residents and staff have received their first dose, which is fantastic.
"It's really good progress. Everyone is working incredibly hard, but also they're incredibly committed.
"We have really challenging deadlines but we are confident with the modelling and work we are doing that we will hit those.
"This is all dependent on the availability of the vaccine, but we are on track. Across the north west, we are now at one million people vaccinated."
The health chief confirmed that work had begun on immunising homeless people in the county, who have been placed in the priority group of clinically extremely vulnerable individuals.
Yesterday (January 27), according to government figures Cheshire East recorded a further 118 positive tests. But over the past week the numbers have dropped markedly by a third with 833 cases compared to 1,243 over the previous seven days.
The seven-day rolling infection rates has fallen to 256.9 per 100,000 people after exceeding 400 earlier in the month.
