36-year-old man arrested on suspicion of drink driving after car crashes and overturns
A 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving - following an incident where a vehicle crashed into a tree and overturned in Crewe.
The incident on Queen Street happened at approximately 8:46pm on Friday (December 2) - with the man being taken to hospital.
Emergency services quickly rushed to the scene - with two fire engines from Crewe, Cheshire Police officers and North West Ambulance Service paramedics.
Today (December 5), Cheshire Constabulary confirmed the incident to Nub News.
A spokesperson told Nub News: "At around 8.46pm on Friday (December 2), police were called following reports of a collision on Queen Street, Crewe.
"Officers attended and found that a black Mercedes had collided with a lamp post and had overturned.
"A 36-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
"Enquiries in relation to this incident are underway."
The incident happened opposite the 17th South West Cheshire Scout HQ, Queen Street.
Queen Street/ Lime Tree Avenue was closed while the debris from the crash was cleared.
Highways engineers also dealt with the damaged live lamp post.
A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "A car had hit a tree and overturned with one casualty reported.
"The casualty had self-extricated and received care from firefighters in attendance.
"The vehicle had also damaged a nearby lamp post to highways were called to isolate the power."
