They also assist the independent living apartment tenants at Belong Crewe, with a dozen one and two-bed apartments on-site.

Jane told Nub News: "Belong at Home is community based. We see customers in their houses, as well as the village apartments at Belong Crewe.

"Belong at Home is a separate registered service to the Belong village, though we are very close-knit and work well together, supporting people as their needs change.

"For example, we have customers in the community who are living with early onset dementia.

"Eventually they might need to move into Belong Crewe's independent living apartments or the households, which offer 24-hour care. We help with the moving transition – it is a journey where we are with them all the way.

"At Belong at Home, we are there to make their lives easier and assist them.

"A lot of customers have never had care before and we explain to them they are the boss and we are just there to assist.

"It is all about treating them with dignity and respect and listening to what they want us to help with.

"In addition to helping with personal care, completing errands or housework, we also offer companionship. It is so wonderful to take our customers out on special trips. We have two ladies who love the theatre, and we take them two or three times a year.

"For the village's household customers, we help with bringing their families in to enjoy Sunday lunch with them, and we also take people shopping.

"We do things for our customers, possibly the family don't have time to do. We aren't replacing anybody but helping them get out in the community."
