A MAN faces motoring charges in connection with a Crewe road traffic collision in which a cyclist died.
Agnieszka Pocztowska passed away after sustaining serious injuries when her bike was in collision with a car on Hungerford Road on September 14 last year.
Nathan Schultz, 21, of Ellgreave Street, Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent has been charged with failing to stop after a road accident and failing to report a road accident among eight separate motoring charges.
Kasey Van Wrench, 19, of Epping Road, Trent Vale, Stoke-on-Trent faces four charges relating to his use of the same Ford Focus as Schultz, but in the Stoke area.
Both their cases were listed at South Cheshire Magistrates' Court last Friday, but the duo were not required to attend and the matters have been adjourned to another Crewe hearing on Friday, May 21.
Schultz is charged with, being the driver of a Ford Focus, registration YT08 DNE, that he failed to stop after an accident in which personal injury was caused to Agnieszka Pocztowska on Hungerford Road in Crewe on September 14, 2020.
He is also charged with failing to report an accident as soon as was reasonably practicable.
Another motoring charge involving personal injury has been levelled at him. He is accused of, being the driver of a Ford Focus, registration number YT08 DNE, that failed to stop after an accident on Crewe Road in Haslington where injury was caused to Michael Mayer, also on September 14, 2020.
Schultz faces a similar charge of failing to report that accident.
He is also charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis at the Northern Area Custody Facility in Stoke-on-Trent; driving without insurance; driving without a licence; and driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition at Crewe and Haslington in that three of its tyres were "so devoid of tread the cords were exposed", with all the alleged offences on September 14, 2020.
Van Wrench is charged with driving the Ford Focus, registration YT08 DNE, dangerously on Lymevale Road and Brookfield Road in Trent Vale.
He is also charged with driving without insurance, driving without a licence and driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition, all on the same day, September 14, 2020.
After the death of Ms Pocztowska, 41, a GoFundMe appeal set up by a family friend raised thousands of pounds to help pay for funeral costs and to bring Mrs Pocztowska's relatives over to the UK from Poland.
The mother-of-three, who worked for Crewe-based care company Premier Care, was described as "a beautiful, caring and compassionate person who loved her job and her family".
