YMCA Cheshire provides supported accommodation for people experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness. The purpose of this role is to ensure the health and safety and security of the site and grounds, support the wellbeing of residents, and complete scheduled maintenance and cleaning tasks.
The Role
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Weekend Duty Officer (Gresty) to help maintain a safe, secure, and supportive environment for residents living within YMCA Cheshire's supported accommodation services.This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. One day may involve conducting building checks and responding to emergencies, while another could involve supporting residents in crisis, completing housekeeping tasks, or carrying out health and safety duties around the building.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain a safe and secure environment for residents and staff
Conduct regular tours and checks of the building and groundsRespond appropriately to emergencies, incidents, and disturbances
Offer low-level emotional and practical support to residents when requiredAct as Fire Marshall as part of the duty rota
Enforce house rules and policies respectfully and professionallyWork collaboratively with the Housing and Night Duty team and provide detailed handovers
Record incidents, safeguarding concerns, maintenance jobs, and relevant information using IT systemsEnsure the premises remains clean and tidy through housekeeping and maintenance tasks
Carry out cleaning duties including communal areas, offices, stairwells, kitchens, lounges, and outside areasAbout You
We're looking for someone who:Has experience in security, housing support, homelessness services, or a related field
Can build positive relationships and remain calm under pressureHas an empathetic, compassionate, and non-judgemental approach
Can work effectively with others and value differences within teamsMaintains confidentiality and professional boundaries
Is competent using IT systems including Microsoft Office, Teams, and case management databasesHas experience working with young people including challenging behaviour, substance misuse, and/or mental health issues (desirable)
