Crewe Historical Society's monthly meetings are held on the last Tuesdays of every month. September to June (except December).

The group meets at Jubilee House, Asda Car Park at 7pm with everyone welcome to attend.

On September 30, Dr. Diane Drummond will be talking about population movement and people in Crewe between 1842 and 1921.

This talk will go through where the inhabitants of the new railway town came from and where some moved on to.

Dr Drummond was born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, and was brought up in Wistaston, Crewe.

She attended Crewe Grammar School for Girls and her interest in the social history of Crewe led her to do a PhD on this at Royal Holloway University, University of London.

This became the basis of her first book 'Crewe: Railway Town, Company and People, 1842-1914' in 1995.
