Mid Cheshire Hospitals Charity is holding its annual 'Merry Miles' festive fun run event for the fourth year running as it pushes to hit a £40,000 Children's Emergency Care Appeal target by Christmas.

The event, sponsored by Crewe security firm Alpha Omega, had to be held virtually last year due to the pandemic, but organisers are delighted to be able to return to Queen's Park, Crewe, once again this year.

Cheshire East Council was due to meet at the Municipal Buildings on Thursday.

A CONSERVATIVE councillor has accused Cheshire East Council of cancelling its council meeting in Crewe this week so the administration can hide from public scrutiny "after taking a mauling at the October meeting".

And Middlewich residents who had pledged to turn up to the full council meeting at the Municipal Buildings on Thursday (November 18) have also slated the authority's decision to cancel and vowed to be at next month's meeting to get answers to their questions.

AN advisory panel has been set up to look at future cemetery provision across Cheshire East after a Crewe councillor branded the existing strategy "callous" and "ludicrous".

Cheshire East Council reviewed its strategy in 2018 and a long-term proposal was that families would have to bury loved ones in Crewe or Macclesfield as other local cemeteries became full.
