A SOUTH Cheshire boys football team has celebrated a stellar season in which they maintained a 100 per cent record.

Nantwich Town Royals under-12s, half of whose squad is made up of young footballers from Crewe and Shavington, won all their 14 games to top the league with a maximum total of 42 points and secure promotion from the Maynard League of the South Cheshire Youth League.

Team manager Steve Houchin said: "I'm extremely proud of the lads in the team they have all developed their footballing and fitness skills beyond our expectations as coaches in a really short period of time.

"As well as this they have all shown a great attitude towards improving.

"Matches became challenging at times for the players due to some slow starts in games. But the the boys showed real character and determination on many occasions to come back from behind to win games.

"They are all fully committed to attending training and matches and are all very well supported by fantastic family members cheering them on from the side-lines every week."
