CREWE Alex produced a spirited away performance at Home Park to earn their third consecutive draw on the road.

Lively Scott Kashket fired The Railwaymen into a fortuitous third-minute lead when his powerful cross from the left swerved into the bottom right corner, stunning Pilgrims goalkeeper Michael Cooper.

Plymouth responded and were twice denied by two Will Jaaskelainen saves in quick succession.

But Dave Artell's side defended well with Donervon Daniels and Terell Thomas blocking multiple Plymouth attempts on goal.

The Alex soon got back in control and referee Neil Hair denied them a potential penalty when Scott Robertson was seemingly pulled down.

On the brink of half-time more good work from the impressive Robertson slipped Mikael Mandron in, only for the frontman to be denied by Cooper.

After the break Crewe struggled to create attacking opportunities, although they kept Plymouth at bay for the large part.

They suffered a blow when Kane Ramsay went off injured in the 50th minute with replacement Travis Johnson failing to match his team mates defensive display, also receiving a 62nd-minute yellow card.

Sustained Plymouth pressure eventually told and Ryan Lowe's side equalised in the 72nd-minute.

After Johnson continuously struggled to deal with Plymouth's attacking threat down the left, Ryan Broom took advantage and sprinted past the full back before playing a sublime pass into Ryan Hardie, who turned Daniels with ease and fired past Jaaskelainen.

J'Neil Bennett and Kashket continued to run in behind Plymouth's defence, yet couldn't pose the same threat as the first 45 as the midfield sat deeper.

In the final moments, Robertson pressed Macauley Gillesphey and won a corner. Rio Adebisi's delivery found sub Josh Lundstram unmarked at the front post, but the ball flew off the side of the midfielder's head and high into the away stand.

Talking Points:

1. The Alex made a strong noise behind the goal as the drum boomed around Home Park. A solid effort considering fans travelled 252 miles just to attend.

1. Crewe now have six points from their last five games. They managed just one from their first five.

1. Scott Kashket was a much bigger threat, attempting to run at opponents.

Overall: Well played. If Crewe are to stay in League One this season they need more performances like this.
