A NEWLY-FORMED Crewe junior football team are taking part in the Operation Christmas Child shoebox appeal.
The club is looking for people to pack a shoebox "full of surprises and goodies" that will bring joy and help someone in a developing country as part of the national appeal co-ordinated by Samaritan's Purse UK, an international relief and development organisation.
Leighton FC Chairman Ashley McKenna says anyone interested should message the club to get involved.
He says donors have three options: they can create their own shoebox, wrapped in Christmas paper, which the club can collect at the start of November; or they can order a pre-wrapped shoebox (£1 per box) which can be collected at start of November; or they can donate the cost of the box and its contents.
You can contact the club via its Facebook page.
Leighton FC are making their debut in the Crewe Regional Sunday League this season and secured their first success of the season against Nantwich Pirates (2-1) last weekend at the Brittles sports ground in Wistaston.
