THE heavy weekend rain put paid to most of the CREWE REGIONAL SUNDAY LEAGUE programme.

But two games did survive in Division One with one of them seeing lowly-placed JS Bailey meeting second-placed Winsford Over for the second time in seven days.

But it was the Winsford side who chalked up another 2-1 win despite a battling display from JS Bailey, who had been boosted by new signings.

Tom Stanton scored a late winner for Winsford Over with Will Igoe also on target for the visitors, while Justin Manini scored for JS Bailey.

League leaders Audlem had no fixture with bottom club Ruskin Park unable to raise a team, so the victory moves Winsford Over above Audlem into the top spot, although they have played two more games.

In the other game to go ahead Brad Stockton netted a hat-trick as Cooper Buckley thrashed Sandbach Town 5-1.

Luke Gillan and Jason McMullan scored the other goals, while Matt Dalton scored a consolation for Sandbach Town.

The win moves Cooper Buckley up to fourth place in the table, with games in hand on the top three.

CREWE FC went out of the Crewe and District Saturday Cup as they lost (1-2) their third round tie against Winnington Avenue 94 Reserves at Moss Farm.

Harry Walker put the visitors ahead in the first half, but Shane Davies hit back before the break and Ross Collins won it for the Northwich side.

In the AJ COOKE CUP the fixtures between AFC Crewe v Crewe Town and Sandbach Curshaws v Mary Dendy 1982 were postponed.

Two ties were played, one of which saw Crewe Wanderers were thumped 5-2 by Mary Dendy for whom Jamie Rice scored a hat-trick.

Sandbach Town met club rivals Sandbach Town Ramblers and it was the Ramblers who came out on top.

Taylor Forward-Martin put the Ramblers in front with his first goal for the club and was soon followed up by Tim lamb finishing neatly from close range. The second half was not helped with the deteriorating pitch but the game was put beyond doubt by as third for the Ramblers from Andy Holloway.
