THE weather hit the CREWE REGIONAL SUNDAY LEAGUE with five games off due to waterlogged pitches.

But the Premier Division leaders made the most of rivals Betley being in cup action to extend their lead at the top to four points thanks to a 6-3 win over Talbot.

Talbot took the lead with an early goal from Liam Whittaker, but The Lions quickly equalised through Caine Mellor, who added a second goal later. For Talbot, leading goalscorer Whittaker added a second goal, with Ryan Moss also on target.

Deon Chesters also scored two, with Danny May and Josh Clark completing the scoring.

Also in the Premier Division, Willaston White Star won 4-2 at Winnington SC, coming from behind with goals from Dan Lomas (2), Dan Williams and Lukasz Synowicz.

Cooper Buckley moved up into second place in Division One after a 3-1 win over JS Bailey side with Luke Gillan, Jason McMullan and Brad Stockton netting. Justin Manini scored for the visitors.

White Horse made it three wins in four games with a 2-0 win over C & N Utd. Dan Walford and new signing Will Simcock scored their goals.

Meanwhile, Beltey salvaged their Crewe FA Sunday Cup tie against George & Dragon with a stoppage-time penalty before winning the game on penalty kicks. The teams finished all square at 2-2 after ninety minutes.

The visitors had led at half-time through a Joe Duckworth goal. Danny Lavalette equalised, before a second Duckworth goal appeared to be enough to give George & Dragon the win.

But Jamie Baker equalised for Betley deep into injury time to send the tie to penalties.

Betley goalkeeper Josh Williams turned out to be the hero by saving two penalties.

In the CREWE AND DISTRICT LEAGUE there were wins for Crewe Town, Bollington and Sandbach Town Ramblers, who go top of the table.

Crewe Town won their local derby with Crewe Wanderers buy a 3-2 margin.

Three first-half goals, two from Ryan Tomkinson and one from Josh Cooke was enough to bag three points.

Mary Dendy 1982 caught FC Bollington in good form with the visitors racing to a convincing 5-0 success.

Sandbach Town Ramblers' form had dipped recently, but they were focused on the job against an improving AFC Crewe and ran out 4-2 winners thanks to two goals from Damien Slone and singles for Tom Butler and Tim Lamb.

The result see's them leapfrog Sandbach Curshaws who had no game this week.

With limited games left to play the league is the tightest it has been for a few years with the top four all with a shout of the tittle.
